McNeese State University’s chapter of Society of Professional Journalists was recognized as the Region 12 Outstanding Campus Chapter of the Year at the recent 2015 SPJ Excellence in Journalism Conference in Orlando, Fla.
The McNeese chapter was among 13 regional chapters honored at the conference for outstanding programs and activities that enhance the journalism profession. From among the regional chapters, the 2015 National Campus Chapter of the Year was selected – the University of Maryland.
Region 12 includes 16 university SPJ chapters throughout Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi and Tennessee.
“I'm proud of the hard work of the students in McNeese's chapter of SPJ. The Society allows students the opportunity to meet and network with professional journalists,” said Dr. Tracy Standley, McNeese’s SPJ adviser and assistant professor of mass communication. “This award shows that McNeese students have made a favorable impression on the larger community of professional journalists.”
