McNeese Theatre presents Beckett X Five

The McNeese State University Theatre Bayou Players will begin the spring 2016 season with a unique theater piece titled “BECKETT X FIVE” at 7:30 p.m. March 19 and at 2 p.m. March 20 in Tritico Theatre.

Is it possible to encapsulate mankind’s existence in one play? Theater scholars have asked this question about Samuel Beckett, the father of the Absurd Theatre movement, for years. Now, the McNeese Theatre Bayou Players are combining five of Beckett’s short plays to test this inquiry in a new way. The short plays within this performance are “Act Without Words II,” “Not I,” “Rockabye,” “Come and Go” and “Quad.”

Stan Morris, of Lake Charles, is the guest director of this play.

“Not I” cast member includes: Rebecca Harris, DeRidder, Woman.

“Act Without Words II” cast members include: Sean Hinchee, Lake Charles, First Man; and Joseph Comeaux, Lake Charles, Second Man.

“Come and Go” cast members include: Carol Anne Gayle, Lake Charles, Flo; Marie Thibodeaux, Lake Charles, Ru; and Lori Tarver, Lake Charles, Vi.

“Rockabye” cast member includes: “Kimberly Cascio, Lake Charles, Woman.

“Quad” cast members include: Alliyah Skinner, Lake Charles, First Person; Kerynton Savoy, Lake Charles, Second Person; Alanna Beasley, Lake Charles, Third Person; and Renee Simien, Lake Charles, Fourth Person; Austin Slagle, Orange, Texas, Jose Botello, Pasadena, Texas, Patrick Thomas, Sulphur, and Jordan Johnston, Jennings, percussionists.

Crew members include: Suzanne Scallan, Lake Charles, make-up designer; Diane Rathbun, Lake Charles, costume designer; Barry Rathbun, Lake Charles, sound designer and sound board operator; Randy Partin, Lake Charles, set designer; Gustavo Gutierize, Lake Charles, light board operator; Hinchee, Steve Jeanise, Lake Charles, and Isaac Thomas, Lake Charles, stage crew members; Morris, lighting designer; and Mark Bailes, Rosepine, assistant to costume designer.
