MEMPHIS -- McNeese women’s golf team sits in fourth place following the first two rounds of the Memphis Intercollegiate Monday at the Ridgway Country Club. The final 18 holes will have an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday.

“We had good steady play from Kaitlin Fox and Kennedy Bodfield,” said head coach Mike Fluty. “Our ball striking was not up to par but we played well around the greens.”

McNeese shot rounds of 305 and 307 for a first day total of 612, one shot behind third place Cincinnati and three shots behind second place Ole Miss (609). Memphis leads the 15-team field with a 589.

Fox, who played with confidence all day, is tied for third place in the individual standings. Fox shot a first round of one over par 72 followed by a 75 in the second round for a 147, two shots behind leader Madison Thomas of Memphis. Ole Miss’ Abby Newton is in second place with a 146.

Bodfield is tied for seventh place with a 149 (74-75). Bodfield put on a chipping clinic Monday, making 17 of 18 up and down attempts.

“We need help from our four and five positions for a strong finish tomorrow,” said Fluty. “We are going to relax, have fun and play fearless golf tomorrow.”

Other results for the Cowgirls have freshman Riley Isaac tied for 41st place. Despite being bother by a hip flexor, Isaac managed to shoot a 158 (82-76). Senior Dolores Brown is tied for 57th place with a 161 (80-81) and sophomore Ashlynn Novak is tied for 75th place with a 166 (79-87).
