McNeese Women's Golf places 8th at Grand Canyon Invitational

The McNeese women’s golf team shot a final round 949 at the Grand Canyon Invitational Wednesday to finish eighth in the 14-team field. The Top 10 finish is the first of the season for the Cowgirls.

North Dakota State came back in the final round to post a 301 to win the tournament three shots ahead of Portland State with a 918. Portland State shot a final round 304 for a tournament total 921.

South Dakota State placed third (922) followed by Wyoming (923), UT Rio Grande Valley (928), Grand Canyon (930), and Northern Colorado (935). Fairleigh Dickinson placed ninth (953) with Montana State and South Dakota tying for 10th with 960’s. Creighton placed 12th with a 966 followed by Nebraska-Omaha (991) and Siena (994).

Kaitlin Fox was the Cowgirls’ top finisher, tying for 22nd place with a 234. Fox shot rounds of 78, 74 and 82. Kennedy Bodfield tied for 29th place with a 236, Maiken Bing Paulsen finished in 45th place with a 240. Paulsen shot the low round of the day for McNeese with a 78. Sofie Winther tied for 48th place with a 242 and Alexandra Graf tied for 60th place with a 246.
