McNeese Women's Golf in 11th place after round 1 of Morehead St. Citrus Challenge

McNeese freshman Maiken Bing Paulsen tied her career low round of 72 here Sunday to lead the Cowgirls at the Morehead State Citrus Challenge and is tied for fifth place following the first round. The tournament will continue with 18 holes played on both Monday and Tuesday. Mondays round will have an 8:30 a.m. tee time start.

Paulsen is one of five players tied for fifth place and trail individual leader Valentina Giraldo of Jacksonville State who fired a first round 65.

As a team, the Cowgirls are in an 11th place tie with North Florida in the 20-team field. The Cowgirls posted a 304 on Sunday. Jacksonville State is the team leader with a 292, two shots ahead of Ball State, Western Kentucky, Elon, and Florida Gulf Coast who all posted a day one score of 294.

Other Cowgirl result have Ashlynn Novak, who is playing as an individual, is tied for 10th place after also tying her career low round with a 73. Sophie Winther shot a 75 and is tied for 28th place. Kennedy Bodfield is tied for 71st place with a 78, Kaitlin Fox is tied for 77th place with a 79, and Meiyi Pan is tied for 93rd place after a first round 81.
