The Southeast Tourism Society (STS) recently honored Lake Charles Civic Ballet’s Assemblé 2016 as a Top 20 Event for March, 2016. Lake Charles Civic Ballet (LCCB) is proud to once again join forces with Southwest Louisiana arts organizations and individuals to present Assemblé 2016 on Saturday, March 19 and Sunday, March 20 at the Lake Charles Civic Center Rosa Hart Theatre.

This year’s show will open with the one-act comical ballet Gâité Parisienne and Amen, an original work incorporating ballet and tap dance with classic hymns in an old-fashioned tent-revival setting, featuring performing artists Tony James and Ashley Williams. The show will also include The Goose with the Golden Legs, a collaboration with local author Eloise Huber to bring her second children’s book to the stage, set to live narration and original music by Chris Miller and featuring illustrations by Robbie Austin.

Other elements to the performance are We’ve All Been There and Synergy, contemporary dances by choreographer Golden Wright and William G. Rose's original composition, The Seasons, with live accompaniment by the Pastiche quartet. Closing the program is A Night at the Sands, featuring the upbeat music of Leif Pederson’s 1944 Big Band with choreography by Rody Broussard of Bayouland Ballroom, set to the live, on-stage music of a 14 piece big band that will leave the audience wanting more!

The Southwest Louisiana Convention and Visitors Bureau is a member of STS, an organization that promotes travel to and within the southeastern part of the United States. The bureau nominates all area fairs, festivals and events quarterly. The STS Top 20 Events marketing program highlights the “best of the best” from submitted entries.

Events are selected from each of the following STS member states: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia. The Top 20 Events publication is sent to over 1,600 newspapers, magazines, radio stations, TV stations, AAA publications and others. The combined circulation of organizations using the publication is well into the millions. Therefore, the potential media coverage of these events has made the Top 20 Events list a coveted honor.
