The McNeese State University Performing Arts Department will host a faculty flute recital featuring Judy Hand at 7 p.m. Friday, March 4, in Tritico Theatre as part of its Spring Faculty/Guest Artist Series.
This free program will feature: “Flute Concerto in D Major, Il Cardellino” by Antonio Vivaldi; “Ballade” by Carl Reinecke; “Wake Up!” by Tilmann Dehnhard; “Sonatine” by Darius Milhaud; “Sonata No. 4 for Flute and Oboe” by Georg Philipp Telemann; and “Sprite” by Michael Torke. Hand will be accompanied by Lina Morita on piano and Beverly Jones on oboe.
An associate professor of music at McNeese, Hand teaches flute, chamber music, music history, ear training and classic piano. She holds a bachelor’s degree in music education from the University of Arkansas and a Master of Music degree and the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in flute performance from Louisiana State University. She has toured England and Wales with the International Flute Orchestra and has been awarded numerous arts grants, including the Louisiana Artist Fellowship. Hand is currently principal flute in the Lake Charles and Rapides symphonies.
