The Contraband
Rain CII Carbon, through their partnership with the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), recently executed a $3,000 grant for the City of Lake Charles Recreation and Parks Department. The funding provided for a community project, which included new dugout benches and also picnic tables as part of an upgrade at College Oaks Park, located at 3518 Ernest Street in Lake Charles.
The grant is part of an ongoing partnership with the City of Lake Charles. Previously, Rain CII Carbon funded the construction of informational kiosks in Riverside Park and Tuten Park, and last year the group donated new benches and trash/recycle receptacles to upgrade Lock Park.
Rain CII’s Sulphur-based facility produces calcined petroleum coke, an essential element in the production of aluminum. They also capture waste heat from their high-temperature kilns to co-generate electric power that is sent to the local grid in association with Entergy and the Louisiana Public Service Commission’s renewable energy pilot program.
