HELP ME SOPHIE V: Guy needs a map to the next level
Dear Sophie V.,
Last week I started talking to this really cute girl in one
of my classes. We’ve met up to study a few times in the new ranch but I need
some pointers on how to bring our study-buddy friendship to the next level.
Help a brother out? –Campus Guy
Hey Campus Guy,
I can definitely help you out in the tip department. First
things first; congrats on getting a couple study sessions in with the lucky
gal. It’s a good sign that she at least feels comfortable enough to study with
you. A quick way to escalate your friendship is to suggest studying in a more
secluded area. Bring up something understandably reasonable like the fact that
the New Ranch is way too loud to get real work done.
Throw her a few suggestions like Starbucks, your house or
perhaps a secluded hole in the wall you know about. Honestly, she’ll probably
appreciate a coffee while studying and not to mention your seemingly studious
behavior. Now just because you two are going to be studying in a more private
setting, don’t rush things. She will get the wrong impression about your
motives if you scrap the actual studying when you two are finally alone
together. Instead, continue making a good impression by working on the class
material. When you guys are satisfied with the work accomplished, it’s your
time to shine.
Breaking the ice with small talk can move mountains when
trying to get a girl to warm up to you. Ask her a few questions about herself,
“Where are you from?”, “Do you have any pets?”… Keep it short and simple until
you feel like you can easily roll into a conversation based off one of her
responses. Before you know it you’ll be getting somewhere. In all honesty, she
might not know it yet but you two will have moved out of the ‘study-buddy’ zone
and will have stumbled into a mini date.
One last but crucial tip; wrap it up at a decent time. In other words; don’t try to make the date
last all night. Doing so will concrete your competence appeal and she’ll be
more likely to go out with you again. Perhaps next time for dinner and movie…
or at least something other than studying!
Best of luck to you Campus Dude!
